Tbilisi 2016

Thought it was time for a new post, introducing my new Tbilisi apartment (hopefully I can do another one for Groningen soon!). I lived in this apartment last year, too--but this is the first time I have it to myself! Until April 16th, when one of my co-directors for the field school arrives.

Anyway, here is the street outside!

And the entrance (I love my old doorway, with spiral door handles, button code lock, and tile floors)! The staircase is wrought iron and wood. The ceilings in the building and all of these features guarantee that the building was built before the 30s. My friend told me that I live in an old German neighborhood (a lot of Tbilisi was built by Germans) and the building may well date to the late 19th century.

My bedroom last year (with the funny red light!) and this year! (Pay no attention to the unmade bed! Pay lots of attention to the beautiful wall color and high ceilings and parquet floor!)

A gift from a guest! Who couldn't have known how welcome a taste of Chicago was!
Some of my first shopping expedition. Mmm puri (bread). It's a shame it only lasts one day! It's impossible to eat on one's own (but very, very tempting).
The living room
The kitchen!

And, finally, the views! (Including my car and a friendly stray cat! Who I will not be letting in the door.)
